Successful Left Achillies Rebuild
Case Study: Jared Boothe
Surgeon: Eugene Curry, M.D., The Carrell clinic, Dallas, Texas
Dr. Curry rebuilt my left Achilles from the heal out because of the bone spur November 2021. Then it popped June 7, 2022, at physical thereapy, and was a totally different injury. My surgery was June 9, 2022. I healed up, did my own physical therapy, and decided I had enough with my weight, so on May 23, 2023, I got outside to start walking to get this weight off. I learned to meal prep and that is and everyday thing for me now...no going back to the way it was.
It was a slow process at first as walking was hard to for any kind of distance because of my weight. I attached 3 photos—one from 2021 in New Orleans and weighed around 370, another photo was May 5, 2023 around 362, and now I am 244 with more to go and down 118 lbs. since May 23, 2023.
Friends can't keep up with me anymore! I go out on like 3 mile walks during the week and long walks on the weekends. Yesterday I did a 10.44 mile walk and felt great.Working out, walking all the time...I used to sit all the time and now I stand most of the time. I work from home and have an electric desk so I stand a lot at home as well.
It has just been amazing how making the decision to reach out to the Carrell Clinic again has transformed my life...I have had 6 surgeries there and all healed up and been just great.
I have also loaned out my utensils 3 times since I quit using them to friends that needed them for surgeries they were having—knee scooter, crutches, reacher, elevation pillows and other items so they could be able to function and was al glad to help them out.
I am so glad I finally got to a point with my heal that I reached out to Dr Klein's nurse who referred me to you and Dr Curry and how Dr Curry, staff, you and all were with me the entire way and Dr Curry doing what he does best—finding the best plan and what to do to get the best possible outcome and that is what happened for me.
I just wanted to reach out since it has 2.5 years since my 2nd left Achilles surgery and let you, Dr Curry and staff know how I am doing, the changes in my life with my weight, out moving and walking again and being able to live life, go on trips, hang out with friends and family and enjoy life again.
My story is not over, many more walks, more weight to lose and make everyday the next best day.
